Supported Communication – English Language

What does it mean to communicate successfully? There is many a theory on the issue, partially even talked about in lower school grades. This is to show: There might not be the one, true answer to our question. Nonetheless, we all share that special everyday knowledge, the feeling of a discussion working out – or the contrary.

People who are hard of hearing, have experienced hearing loss or who are Deaf, some with additional difficulties, can be exposed to very harsh experiences, for most often, the expectations they are met with are „They can not“.

They might be very fluent in sign language – while their surroundings do ignore this as a matter of fact. Maybe they have a need for further support, going far beyond the language level. This might be the case with people experiencing additional disabilities.

Together we will build upon your abilities to create your life as self-governed as possible; for if you experience some of these difficulites, our cooperation will be just the addition to your self-governance.

I know what it is like to live with hearing difficulties and other disabilites. Not by myself, but through the experiences of my fellows I learned a good support act not only meets requirements of communication – long term engagement, reliability and trust are deciding factors as well. The way I see it, communicating successfully is a goal that is met if everybody had the chance to express themselves. And, via that, to achieve their individual goal. To pave the way to that level of success – that is my aim and job in assisting you.

What I offer:

  • Active work in the Cologne/Bonn area.
  • Interest in a long term engagement.
  • I was accepted to take the federal examination, but never took it. For you, that basically means: ability meets the lower price point. (which might result in faster approvement of my support by the authorities on that matter).
